Bowls
Who are we?
We are a friendly, mixed, inclusive club for all age groups and abilities. We are affiliated to Bowls England, Gloucestershire Bowls Association and The City and County of Bristol Bowling Association.
We run internal leagues and also enter local friendly leagues. For the more competitive bowlers we enter a team in a men’s league and ladies league. Our men’s team gained promotion last season to the next division, and the ladies were placed third in their division.
We also run club competitions throughout the season and end with a dinner where cups are presented to the winners.
Members of the club are given a key to the green and can play any time except when work is being undertaken on the green.
There are opportunities to become involved in running the club, as a committee member or by helping with the upkeep of the green and surroundings.
Who is Bowls Club for?
All age groups and abilities
When is it on?
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays.
We run a club internal league on Monday evenings where the various teams play each other with the aim of winning two cups at the end of the season.
We welcome new members and have set aside Tuesday evenings as a practice night where help is available to introduce you to the game of bowls.
On Wednesday, Thursday (ladies only) Saturday and Sunday afternoons we play friendly matches against other clubs in the area. These are very social matches and include a tea and end with drink at the bar with our opposition.
What else does it offer?
In February the club enjoys a five day holiday, with indoor bowling, at a hotel in Torquay. We also organise a summer tour, this year staying at Eastbourne, and bowling at a different venue each day.
During the winter months we meet regularly for social evenings and enjoy various activities. So if you are looking for some gentle exercise , sport, friendship and perhaps a holiday this is the place for you.
How can I join in?
The fee for the season (mid April until October) is £60. Members must also become associate members of the main club (£20 per year).
New members are given a club coloured shirt once they begin to play in matches. Otherwise the dress code is white tops with grey or white trousers, as advised. Flat shoes must be worn on the green.
We have a sale rail and a selection of second-hand bowls clothes and shoes.
We offer three free sessions before you make a commitment to join the club.
